as the reason a fidanza goes to shit so easily is because it is an entire ring joined with screws to the flywheel. When the friction ring expands, it is held down at points around the ring and it must give somewhere. The Al doesn't expand nearly as quickly and the ring accordions on you. Seperate smaller pads will expand the same, but since they aren't all joined in a ring, they wont warp up.
